What if you could clear up your bad credit problems virtually on your own? How important do you think it is too have a good standing credit file? Would you be willing to spend a couple of hours of your own time to work on repairing your financial crisis? If you answered yes to any of the above questions than I believe you're ready to get started and clear up your bad credit mess.

I have selected some clear choice steps for you to follow that will help you get a clear quick start on fixing your three major bureau files.

Step one - Contact the three major reporting bureaus, either by mail or on the web, and get a clear copy of your files.

Step two - Review all of your bad credit files for any inaccuracies of payment history such as late pays, incorrect dates, unknown financial companies, balances, bad account numbers, and so forth.

Step three - Get back in touch with the agencies, either by writing a letter or through their website and begin disputing any inaccuracies you found on your report, to help clear the bad.

Step four - Begin at once to start making all of your debt payments to your creditors, at least one week in advance of the due date on your billing statement.

Step five - Use my 48 hour rule which states “that anything worth having should be purchased 48 hours after you have decided to buy.” This is what I call a cooling off period; it helps delete impulse buying and gives your bank account and charge cards a breather from all of the abuse.

Step six - Quickly as you can, starting with the bank card you currently have that has the least amount of balance, pay it down to 25% of the available credit. Then start with the next debt card and do the same, and so on until you’re clear down to the twenty five percentage mark or lower.

Some experts would disagree with this and tell you to start paying down the credit card with the highest interest rate first and I would agree with that also; however for most folks, if they can't see they’re getting anywhere quickly when paying down bad debt they give up easily and stop in the middle of reaching their goal. I don't want that to happen to you.

By taking the above steps, you will notice that correcting bad mistakes on your files will virtually give you a clear little boost in your credit rating.

By removing questionable information or clear bad reported errors that do not belong to you through the means of disputing, you are bound to see some sort of increase in your current score.

Sometimes credit bureaus cannot verify the bad information you disputed within a 30 day period, so in those circumstances they must repair or remove the negative entries, this will help clear your bad credit.

By paying your bills on time or a least a week in advance will keep you from having any late payments on your credit report and also show creditors that you are not bad at paying in advance of your due dates, which makes you a better credit risk to a lender.

Last but not least, if you bring your bad debt balance to 25% or less on your charge accounts you will be shown as a responsible borrower and virtually boost your score.

You should begin to notice a clear difference in your credit history within the first 30 to 90 days of following the above steps.
